There is a symbiotic relationship between the ocean and human health. The ocean drives over $2.5 trillion in global GDP as it underpins trade, food, and infrastructure. Consequently, the ocean has been subjected to harmful chemicals, runoff, plastics, CO2, and pollution which have all found their way back to us.
This intersection remains one of the most undercapitalized segments in the global economy, lacking the financial instruments needed to reflect its complexity, risk, and growth potential.

Why VELAMAR Exists
In 2014, as a college student, I founded Sustainable Ocean Alliance to give young entrepreneurs anywhere in the world the chance to build ocean solutions. Over twelve years, SOA supported hundreds of founders across 186 countries. Their science was sound. Their technology worked.
But the same problem repeated itself, deal after deal, capital did not know how to reach them, and they did not know how to reach the buyers, the standards, or the vehicles that would let them scale.
That gap surfaced a recognition impossible to unsee: ocean health and
human health are two expressions of the same industrial transformation. The materials, chemicals, and supply chains that shape one, shape the other. Solving one requires solving both.
VELAMAR is being built to finance that transformation.
